The Fire Chief shall approve or disapprove plans and specifications submitted pursuant to Hawai'i Revised Statutes Section 132-9 within ninety (90) calendar days after receiving them. If the Fire Chief fails to approve or disapprove the plans and specifications within ninety (90) days after receiving them, the plans shall be deemed approved.
Whenever the Fire Chief finds that the building being constructed, or upon which alterations and or additions are to be made, is for any reason not reasonably safe from 1) loss or damage to property, 2) loss of life, or 3) injury to persons due to fire, the fire chief shall disapprove the plans and specifications and return them with a written statement setting forth the reasons for the disapproval.
