It is unlawful for any person, other than a peace officer acting in his or her official line of duty to shoot, fire or discharge, or for any person, firm or corporation to cause or permit to be shot, fired or discharged within the city limits, any rifle, shotgun, pistol, revolver, BB gun, air gun, firearm or bow and arrow, except when it may be necessary to do so to protect life or property or to destroy or kill any predatory or dangerous animal, or at an approved pistol range, rifle range or archery range.

Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $500 or by imprisonment in the County Jail for a period not to exceed six months or by both such fine and imprisonment.
