The term "slaughter" means kill and prepare for human consumption.

It is unlawful for any person to slaughter any cattle, sheep, swine, goat, horse or mule unless such person holds, or is employed by a person who holds, a valid license issued by the state or the United States, authorizing the slaughtering of animals and such slaughtering is done in a manner and at a place permitted by such license.
