The city traffic engineer is authorized to regulate the timing
of traffic signals so as to permit the movement of traffic in an orderly
and safe manner at speeds slightly at variance from the speeds otherwise
applicable within the district or at intersections, and shall erect
appropriate signs giving notice thereof.

Pursuant to Vehicle Code Section 22357, the city has prepared
engineering and traffic surveys for speed limits dated May 1, 2008,
November 6, 2012, February 21, 2013 and April 22, 2017, and has relied
upon the Palm Desert engineering and traffic survey dated November
23, 2020, and establishes the following speed limits:
