The powers and duties carried out by former offices and officers
of the municipality have been transferred to the offices or officers
specified in this chapter.

Wherever the ordinances or resolutions of the city refer to
the board of trustees, the reference shall be construed to be the
city council.

Wherever the ordinances or resolutions of the city refer to
the marshal, the reference shall be construed to be the chief of police.

Whenever the ordinances or resolutions of the city refer to
the president of the board of trustees, the reference shall be construed
to be the mayor.

Whenever the ordinances or resolutions of the city refer to
the recorder’s court, the reference shall be construed to be
the municipal court.

Whenever the ordinances or resolutions of the city or the provisions
of this code refer to the director of ecological development, director
of public services or deputy city manager/city engineer, technical
and maintenance services or the department headed by that individual,
the references shall be construed to be to the director of public
works and the department of public works.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, any reference to the deputy city
manager/city engineer when made in a context requiring technical expertise
shall be construed to be the city engineer without regard to any other
departmental title.

Whenever the ordinances or resolutions of the city or the provisions
of this code refer to the director of community development or deputy
city manager, community development and administration, or the department
headed by that individual, the reference shall be construed to be
to the director of economic and community development and the department
of economic and community development.

Whenever the ordinances or resolutions of the city or the provisions
of this code refer to the director of parks and recreation or the
director of recreation and community services, or the department headed
by that individual, the reference shall be construed to be to the
director of parks, recreation and community services and the department
of parks, recreation and community services.
