The International Building Code, 2006 edition, is hereby adopted as the building code of the city. Said code is adopted by reference as though it was copied fully herein.

The building code of the city is amended to read:
"The City of Brookshire shall not issue a certificate of occupancy until an applicant complies with all applicable rules and regulations of the Brookshire Municipal Water District. An applicant for a certificate of occupancy shall submit an application stating that the applicant has complied with all applicable rules and regulations of the Brookshire Municipal Water District. Such affidavit shall be in a form prepared by the city and shall be attached to the application for the certificate of occupancy as a part thereof. The affidavit shall be accompanied by written certification from the Brookshire Municipal Water District that the applicant has in fact complied with its rules and regulations. The affidavit shall be properly subscribed and sworn to before a notary public."

Any person who shall violate any provision of this article shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punished as provided in section
1-13. Each day of violation shall constitute a separate offense.

It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person to construct or structurally alter any building within the city limits without obtaining a permit therefor from the city secretary except where the total cost of such construction or alteration does not exceed $25.00. Application for such building permit shall be made upon a form furnished by the city. The permit fee for the issuance of the building permit shall be set by ordinance by the city council from time to time and maintained in the schedule of fees.

Nothing contained in this division is intended to conflict with the fire limits ordinance regulating the construction or alteration of buildings within the fire limits.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this division shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, shall be fined according to the general penalty found in section
1-13.
