The City Clerk shall establish a formal Commissioner Orientation
Program, to include the following components:
1) The
appointee must take the oath of office before participating as a Commissioner.
2) The
Commissioner should meet with key staff members, including the department
head responsible for the Commission and the primary staff contact
for the Commission, if other than the department head.
3) The
Commissioner should review the Commission Handbook and be briefed
on: (a) the Commission's formal role and relationship to the City
Council, (b) the Commission's meeting procedures and typical interaction
with staff and City Council, (c) the Brown Act, conflict of interest
requirements, and ethical training requirements, (d) technical aspects
of the Commission's jurisdiction, such as the types of issues that
will be faced, and (e) key issues or projects that the Commission
is or will be considering.
City Clerk: Establish a formal Commissioner Orientation Program.
Commissioner: Participate in the Commissioner Orientation Program.
