Signs are prohibited within public rights-of-way, except as
allowed by this chapter.

Bench signs are permitted subject to Chapter 12.20 of the Milwaukie
Municipal Code.

A. In sign districts where daily display signs are allowed per Chapter
14.16, 1 daily display sign may be placed within a public right-of-way adjacent to any premises by the person in control of those premises, provided all of the following conditions are met:
1. A City right-of-way permit is obtained per requirements of Section
12.16.020. This permit shall be revocable in case of condition noncompliance.
2. The
sign is to be set back behind the curb so as not to interfere with
on-street parking, or, a minimum of 10 feet from the edge of the nearest
street travel lane where curbs are not in place.
3. The
sign is to be placed so as to allow at least 5 feet of unimpeded pedestrian
sidewalk maneuvering space.
4. The sign is to meet clear vision requirements of Chapter
12.24 of the Milwaukie Municipal Code.
5. The sign is properly maintained as per requirements of Section
14.24.010.
6. The
applicant shall assume all liability for incidents involving the sign
by signing a document exempting the City from liability.
7. Sign
dimension shall not exceed a maximum width of 4 feet nor a maximum
aboveground level height of 4.5 feet.
