It is unlawful for any person, other than a peace officer or animal control officer acting in the performance of his or her official duties, or other person authorized by the city manager, to hunt any animal within the city boundaries.

It is unlawful for any person, other than a peace officer or animal control officer acting in the performance of his or her official duties, to shoot, fire or discharge, or for any person, firm or corporation to cause or permit to be shot, fired or discharged, in the city, any rifle, shotgun, pistol, revolver, firearm or other device designed or intended to discharge, or capable of discharging, any dangerous missile or any cartridge, shell, ammunition or device containing any explosive substance designed or intended to be used in or fired from any gun, revolver, pistol or firearm, except when it may be deemed necessary to do so in order to protect life or property, or to destroy, kill, distract, scare or immobilize any predatory or dangerous animal which poses an immediate threat. For purposes of this section, the use and/or discharge of arrows from bows shall be inapplicable.

It is unlawful for any person, other than a peace officer or animal control officer acting in the performance of his or her official duties, to use, shoot or discharge, or for any person, firm or corporation to cause or permit to be used, shot or discharged, on any city-owned property or public rights-of-way, any bow and arrow or similar device. For purposes of this section, such prohibition shall not apply to motion or still photography productions operating under a valid city issued permit nor shall this provision apply to any person who uses, shoots or discharges an arrow from a bow when necessary to do so in order to protect life or property, or to destroy, kill, distract, scare or immobilize any predatory or dangerous animal which poses an immediate threat.

Every person, firm or corporation violating any provision of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable as provided in Chapter 1.04 of this code.
