A. 
There is hereby adopted by reference, except as hereinafter provided, that certain Mechanical Code known and designated as the 2022 California Mechanical Code. Such code shall be and become the Mechanical Code of the City, providing for the issuance of permits and the collection of fees therefor and providing penalties for violation of such code.
B. 
One copy of said 2022 California Mechanical Code has been deposited in the office of the City Clerk of the City and shall be at all times maintained by said Clerk for use and examination by the public.
C. 
Said edition of the 2022 California Mechanical Code, except as hereinafter amended, is the Mechanical Code of the City of Paramount as set forth in this chapter.

Whenever any of the following names or terms are used in said Los Angeles County Mechanical Code, each such name or term shall be deemed and construed to have the meaning ascribed to it in this section as follows:
Building Code, California Building Code or Los Angeles County Building Code.
Chapter 15.04 of the City Municipal Code, entitled "Building Code."
Building Department.
The Planning Department of the City of Paramount.
Building Official.
The Planning Director of the City of Paramount.
City.
The City of Paramount.
Electrical Code.

A. 
Section 112.2 Mechanical Code, is amended to read as follows:
(b) 
Plan Check Fees. A plan checking fee shall be paid to the Chief Mechanical Inspector at the time of submitting the plans and specifications for work described in the last paragraph of Section 302(a) above. Said fee shall be equal to 50% of the required mechanical permit fee as set forth by the City of Paramount.
B. 
Section 113.2(b) Mechanical Code, is amended to read:
(b) 
Expiration. Every permit issued by the Building Official under the provisions of this Code shall expire by limitation and become null and void, if work authorized by such permit has expired or if the work authorized by such permit is not commenced within 180 days from the date of such permit, or if the building or work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work is commenced for a period of 180 days. Before such work can be recommenced a new permit shall be first obtained to do so, and the fee therefor shall be one-half the amount required for a new permit for such work, provided no changes have been made or will be made in the original plans and specifications for such work; and provided, further, that such suspension or abandonment has not exceeded one year.
C. 
Section 114 is amended to read as follows:
Permit Fees. Any person desiring a permit required by this Code shall, at the time of filing an application therefor, pay a fee as established by resolution of the Paramount City Council.
