The official address of all agencies, departments, officers
and employees of the city shall be located and maintained at the Lawndale
City Hall, 14717 Burin Avenue, Lawndale, California.

The city offices shall be closed on all official state holidays
as listed in
Government Code Section 6700; provided, however, the
city council may from time to time authorize additional or alternate
holidays.

Pursuant to Section 36503 of the California
Government Code
and Sections 1000 and 1301 of the California
Elections Code, the general
municipal elections of the city of Lawndale, commencing with the 2018
election, shall be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday
in November of even-numbered years to coincide with statewide general
elections.

Unless otherwise provided in this code, the salaries and compensation
of officers and employees of the city shall be as established by resolution
of the council.

It is the duty of all other officers, including the city clerk,
the city treasurer and the city attorney, to cooperate with and assist
the city manager in administering the affairs of the city most efficiently,
economically and harmoniously so far as may be consistent with their
duties as prescribed by law and the ordinances of the city.

The mayor, city clerk, city attorney and mayor pro tem are each
appointed the authorized agent of the city for filing with the proper
offices and officers of the state and county of certified copies of
ordinances and resolutions and such other documents as may be required
for the proper and efficient conduct of the city's business.

No person, unless authorized by the city clerk, shall remove
any papers or documents from the city offices.

The council shall have the right to contract with the county
pursuant to the laws of the state and the charter of the county for
the performance and execution by designated county officials of the
rights, powers and duties of officers, officials and employees of
the city. Whenever in this code, whether set forth in full or by adoption
by reference, any power or authority is granted to an officer, official
or employee, the power or authority is conferred upon the appropriate
officer, official or employee of the city, or the appropriate officer,
official or employee of the county with whom a contract has been entered
into.

Any applications required to be filed with the city, or fees
required to be paid to the city, pursuant to the provisions of this
code shall be filed with or paid to the director of finance or designated
representative, unless otherwise provided by this code.

Within thirty days after leaving office or termination of city employment, all former city officers and employees shall return to the city manager, or designee, all items of city property acquired during the term of such employment or office. Such property includes, but is not limited to, municipal code books, zoning ordinances, uniform technical codes, city badges, city business cards, county sheriff's department identification cards, merchandise bearing the city logo, and any other tangible items of city property except those which were obtained with the former officer's or employee's personal funds. Failure to comply with this section shall subject the offending party to the penalties prescribed in Section
1.08.030.
