A planning commission, and a parks, recreation and social services
commission are established with membership, powers and duties as provided
for in this chapter and other applicable law.

An applicant for appointment to a city commission shall be deemed
qualified only if he or she has submitted a written application for
appointment to the city clerk, is over eighteen years of age and has
resided in Lawndale for at least thirty consecutive days prior to
submitting the written application.

A commissioner shall automatically be deemed to have resigned
from his or her position and have vacated his or her office by having
ceased to be a resident of the city.

Commissioners shall serve a two-year term, unless earlier terminated
as provided in this chapter. All terms of office shall commence on
March 1st of each odd-numbered year and expire on February 28th of
the succeeding odd-numbered year, except as otherwise provided in
this chapter.
