The City seal for the City of Lake Forest is adopted and approved. The seal shall contain the name of the City and date of incorporation and shall appear substantially as follows:

The City logo for the City of Lake Forest is adopted and approved and shall appear in substantially the forms set forth below:

The City Clerk shall have custody and charge of the City seal, City logo, City slogan, and such other insignia that may from time to time be adopted pursuant to this Code. Except as provided by this Code, any seal, City logo, City slogan, insignia, or other symbol officially adopted for use by the City of Lake Forest shall not be affixed to any instrument without the special warrant of the City Clerk therefor.

Use of the City seal, logo, insignia, City slogan, or other officially adopted symbol, or any cut, facsimile or reproduction thereof, by any person, corporation, or organization shall be subject to the prior approval of the City Manager and the conditions herein provided.

Use of the words "City of Lake Forest" in a manner that suggests to a reasonable person City sponsorship and/or endorsement of an event or activity shall be subject to the prior approval of the City Manager and the conditions herein provided.

The City Manager may permit the use of the City seal, City logo, the words "City of Lake Forest," the City slogan, or any cut facsimile, or reproduction thereof, by any person, corporation or organization ("applicant") which meets all of the following criteria:
A. 
The use of the City seal, City logo, or any cut, facsimile or reproduction thereof, the words "City of Lake Forest," or the City slogan, at an event or activity is for City, local civic, local cultural, local charitable or other local nonprofit purpose.
B. 
The applicant agrees not to use the City seal, City logo, the words "City of Lake Forest," the City slogan, or any cut, facsimile, or reproduction thereof, for commercial or other purposes not allowed above.
C. 
The applicant pays a fee, if applicable and where set by resolution of the City Council.
D. 
Samples shall be submitted of all documents, goods, and other materials upon which the City seal, City logo, the words "City of Lake Forest," or the City slogan are to be used and objective evidence of good quality and workmanship is submitted so that the use of the City seal, City logo, the words "City of Lake Forest," or the City slogan, on said items does not discredit and impair the integrity of the seal, logo, the words "City of Lake Forest," or the slogan in any manner.
E. 
The applicant shall grant to the City the right, at all reasonable times, to inspect any item upon which the City seal, City logo, the words "City of Lake Forest," or the City slogan are used in order that the City may verify that the City seal, City logo, the words "City of Lake Forest," or the City slogan are being used correctly in an unadulterated form.
F. 
Permission to use the City seal, City logo, the words "City of Lake Forest," the City slogan, or any cut, facsimile or reproduction thereof, shall not be assignable.

If the applicant breaches any of the criteria set forth in Section 1.04.070, the City may serve written notice of such breach upon the applicant with request to cure or take appropriate affirmative action in good faith to cure the breach immediately. In the event the applicant fails to cure the breach to the satisfaction of the City, the City may terminate the user's permission to use the City seal, City logo, the words "City of Lake Forest," the City slogan, or any cut, facsimile, or reproduction thereof. Upon receipt of notice from City of such termination, the applicant shall cease the prior permitted use and take all steps reasonably necessary to restrain the improper use of the City seal, City logo, the words "City of Lake Forest," the City slogan, or any cut, facsimile, or reproduction thereof.

The City Council reserves the right to approve uses of the City seal, City logo, insignia, the words "City of Lake Forest," and City slogan, or any cut, facsimile, or reproduction thereof, other than authorized in this chapter which promote the interests of the City. Such uses shall include, but not be limited to, use of the City seal, City logo, and City slogan, or any cut, facsimile, or reproduction thereof, by City officials and on City vehicles, equipment, and stationery.
