The provision of health and mental health services to inmates in County adult correctional facilities is required by law and is managed by the Director of the Department of Health Services. Such services are referred to as "correctional health services" in this article.

Only limited contract authority has been conferred upon the Sheriff. No general contract authority has been conferred upon the Sheriff. Except as specifically authorized, all contracts for services or supplies must be approved by the Board of Supervisors.

Amounts unexpended within the Correctional Health Services budget at the conclusion of each fiscal year shall be subject to reallocation in any manner deter-mined by the Board of Supervisors.
