The office of fire chief is created.

A.
The
fire chief shall supervise the fire training, inspection and supervision
activities of the fire department.
B.
The
fire chief shall have recorded the attendance of all fire department
personnel appearing at fires, fire drills and fire department meetings
or training sessions.
C.
The
fire chief shall report to the city council on an annual basis the
activities of the fire department.

The fire chief shall reside in a location which will permit
the chief to respond to all emergencies in the city within ten minutes:
provided further, that the chief shall observe all traffic laws when
responding.

The fire chief's compensation shall be fixed from time to time
by city council resolution. Such compensation shall be a proper charge
against such funds as the city council shall designate.
