Del Norte County designates and maintains as a skate park facility (hereinafter "skate park") that area consisting of approximately 20,000 square feet, located at Peterson Park in the city of Crescent City for the purpose of riding or using skateboards and in-line skates.
It is unlawful for a person to ride or use a skateboard or in-line skates in the skate park unless that person is wearing a helmet that complies with the standards set forth in Vehicle Code Section 21212, elbow pads, and knee pads.
In-line skating shall be permitted in the County's skate park.
Skateboarding and in-line skating at the County's skate park are hazardous recreational activities for participants and spectators. Pursuant to Government code Section 831.7, the County of Del Norte will not be liable for injuries incurred by persons participating in or observing the hazardous recreational activities in the County's skate park.
Within the County's skate park, it shall be unlawful for any person to:
A. 
Place or utilize ramps, rails, obstacles, or other materials within the skate park that are not provided to the skate park or expressly authorized by the County for recreational purposes;
B. 
Enter the skate park for purposes other than skateboarding, in-line skating, or assisting a skate-boarder or in-line skater in exiting the skate park;
C. 
Possess or consume alcohol, illegal drugs, or any tobacco products within the skate park;
D. 
Use the skate park while under the influence of any illegal drugs, alcohol, or any drug that would impair the person's judgment or motor skills;
E. 
Use, possess, or abandon glass containers within the skate park;
F. 
Engage in reckless or boisterous behavior or any other activity that could endanger the safety of other persons using the skate park;
G. 
Enter or be upon the skate park at any time except during the posted hours of operation, as the same may be modified by the County from time to time;
H. 
Ride, operate, or utilize any device other than a skateboard or inline skates.
Organized events, exhibitions, contests, or any commercial activity proposed to be held at the skate park shall be subject to a permit process established and administered by the Del Norte County Parks and Recreation Department.
The County Parks Department shall cause a sign or signs to be posted at the skate park providing reasonable notice of the requirements of this chapter and stating that any person failing to comply will be guilty of an infraction and subject to citation.
Violation of any provision of this chapter is declared to be an infraction.
