The city treasurer shall be ex officio tax collector of the city and shall collect all taxes levied or assessed pursuant to any law or ordinance, not required by law to be collected by other city or county officers.

The levy and collection of the municipal taxes of the city shall be made by the proper county officials of San Bernardino County, (in which county the city is located), in accordance with the provisions of an act passed by the legislature of the state, granting such privilege, which act is entitled: "An Act to Provide for the Levy and Collection of Taxes by and for the Use of Municipal Corporations, and Cities Incorporated Under the Laws of the State of California. Except Municipal Corporations of the First Class, and to Provide for the Consolidation and Abolition of Certain Municipal Officers, and to Provide that their Duties may be Performed by Certain Officers of the County, and Fixing the Compensation to be Allowed such County Officers for the Services so Rendered to such Municipal Corporations," approved March 27, 1895, and all acts amendatory thereto. Which act the council elects to avail itself, and confer the duties named upon the proper county officials.
