Notwithstanding any other provisions of the Upland Municipal
Code, any potbelly pig in the possession of, and owned by, a resident
of Upland as of August 1, 1992, licensed in the city on or within
30 days after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this
section may remain in the possession of its owner until its relocation
out of the city or until its death, whichever event occurs the sooner,
provided the owner or possessor of the licensed pig complies with
and maintains the pig under the following terms and conditions:
A. In no
case shall the height of any pig exceed 18 inches, as measured at
the shoulder, nor shall the weight of any pig exceed 150 pounds.
B. There
shall be no breeding of pigs for any or all purposes, and each pig
shall be surgically altered to prevent reproduction.
D. The
application for the license shall be accompanied by a certificate
from a licensed veterinarian attesting to the satisfactory health
of the animal.
E. Each
pig shall be provided with a yard designed to assure that the animal
is confined and managed in a safe, clean, and odor-free manner.
F. There
shall be no more than one potbelly pig per residence, and where a
licensed potbelly pig is kept, the permitted number of dogs or cats
is reduced from three to two.
