A. 
There are certain areas in Inyo County in which the discharge of firearms should be prohibited for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety.
B. 
It is the intent of this board that certain zones be designated wherein it will be prohibited to discharge firearms.

A. 
Zone number one is described as follows: That area set forth in Book No. 1, Page No. 24, of the miscellaneous maps recorded in the Inyo County recorder's office, and described in Exhibit A attached to the ordinance codified in this chapter.
B. 
Zone number two is described as follows: That area set forth in Document No. 84-5567 as recorded in the Inyo County recorder's office and described as follows:
Legal Description: NW ¼ of the NW ¼ of Section 33, T. 21 N., R. 7 E. of the San Bernardino Meridian, containing forty acres, and attached to the ordinance codified in this section as Exhibit A.

A. 
Zone number three is described as follows: That area known as the Bishop Airport and described in Exhibit B attached to the ordinance codified in this chapter on file in the board of supervisors' office.
B. 
Zone number four is described as follows: That area known as the Independence Airport and described in Exhibit C attached to the ordinance codified in this chapter on file in the board of supervisors' office.
C. 
Zone number five is described as follows: That area known as the Lone Pine Airport described in Exhibit D attached to the ordinance codified in this chapter on file in the board of supervisors' office.

It is unlawful for any person, except in the defense of his/her person or property, to discharge any firearm or other deadly weapon within a safety zone.

Safety zones shall be posted with signs at least ten inches by twelve inches in size and reading: "NO SHOOTING." Such signs are to be displayed at intervals not less than three to the mile along the exterior boundaries, and at roads and trails entering such lands. Maps of safety zones and wildlife viewing areas shall be made available where feasible at the county seat and at various locations designated by the sheriff's department throughout the county.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable as provided by California Penal Code Section 19.
