The compensation of the city treasurer shall be fixed by resolution of the city council. The city treasurer, upon entering the duties of the office, shall execute a bond in an amount fixed by resolution of the city council, to the city for the faithful performance of such duties.

Any employee or other qualified person may be designated by the city treasurer as deputy city treasurer to do such acts as are authorized by such officer.

In accordance with provisions of California Government Code Section 34856 and Ballot Measure B approved by the voters in the general municipal election held on April 8, 1986, the office of city treasurer shall be appointed by the city council.
