The Highway Supervisor shall assist the Board of Selectmen in the exercise of those powers and the performance of those duties which are conferred and imposed by law upon the Selectmen for the care and maintenance of highways, bridges, and sidewalks. The Highway Supervisor shall hold a position of management and shall be an agent of and answerable to the Board of Selectmen.
The Board of Selectmen shall appoint the Highway Supervisor for a term not to exceed three years. The Town shall provide those benefits as are received by other employees of the Town Highway Department.
The Highway Supervisor shall possess those practical and technical qualifications necessary for the fulfillment of his duties, as determined by the Board of Selectmen. The Highway Supervisor shall not hold the office of First Selectman or Selectman.
The salary of the Highway Supervisor shall be determined annually by the Town of Harwinton acting at its annual budget meeting.
