This chapter is adopted pursuant to authority vested in the Town Board by New York State Constitution Article IX, Section 2; Sections 10, 11, and 22 of the New York Municipal Home Rule Law; relevant positions of the New York Town Law; the Code of the Town of Steuben; and the general police power of the Town of Steuben to promote health, safety and welfare of all residents.
This chapter shall be known as the "Town of Steuben Residential Buildings and Structures Law."
It is the purpose of this chapter to promote the health, safety, and general welfare of the inhabitants of the Town of Steuben by providing minimum standards for the location, density, and construction of residential buildings and structures and to establish the minimum lot size and on footprint to be 1.5 acres.
This chapter shall replace and supersede Chapter 88 of the Code of the Town of Steuben entitled "Mobile Homes," which is hereby repealed in its entirety as of the effective date of the adoption of this chapter, without impairing, however, rights that may have accrued hereunder before repeal.
This chapter, as limited by Article V, shall apply to all dwellings and accessory structures located in the Town of Steuben, including mobile homes that are brought into, relocated or replaced in the Town after the effective date of adoption.
