Recognizing that in the course of the development of the Village and the surrounding areas of unincorporated Ramapo, there has been residential development in areas removed at some distance from public highways, and it is possible that there could be additional development of this nature, and that some of these developments have limited access over wood roads and other informal streets that could be used for emergency access by police, fire or other emergency services, which emergency access roads lead into public streets and roads within the Village; and that use of such emergency access roads need to be regulated.

It shall be unlawful for any vehicle other than a bona fide emergency services vehicle, while engaged in responding to a bona fide emergency, or while engaged on a duly authorized drill, to travel upon an Emergency Access Road within the Village of Sloatsburg, such road having been so identified under this article, and marked with appropriate signage.
The unpaved road which enters Arcadia Court at a point about 150 feet southwest of its intersection with Sterling Mine Road, and which extends to the vicinity of the gatehouse for Pierson Lakes Estates.
All such emergency access roads shall be marked with signs at each terminus within the Village, or at the Village line if a terminus lies outside of the Village, that read;
EMERGENCY ACCESS ONLY ALL OTHER VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES |
The Village shall have authority to close any such emergency access road with gate if it so elects.
