The purpose of this chapter is to put into law minimum removal and reclamation standards and municipal procedures to regulate the removal, processing and storage of topsoil, loam, mineral-based borrow and fill material, peat, stone, rock, flat rock, clay, sand, gravel, minerals, or other similar materials. These standards and procedures are intended to protect the public health, safety, and general welfare and to minimize the adverse impact of extraction to the Town, abutting property owners, citizens of the Town, and wildlife and natural resources by:
A. 
Preserving and protecting surface water and groundwater quality and quantity for current and future use of the Town and/or its residents.
B. 
Preserving the value of property and its future ability to be an asset to the Town and its residents.
This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Town of Wales Mining Ordinance" and will be referred to herein as "this chapter."
