From and after the passage of this article no person or persons, firm or corporation shall keep any pigs, hogs or swine within the Borough of Langhorne without having first obtained from the Secretary of Town Council[1] a written permit granting permission so to do, and paying to the said Secretary for the use of the Borough the sum of $0.50 for each and every pig, hog or swine so kept or to be kept, before said written permit is issued, and which such permit shall continue in force for the period of one calendar year next ensuing the date thereof, and at the expiration of each calendar year from the date from the issuing thereof, said permit shall be null and void, and a new permit must be taken out yearly and every year thereafter; and for each of which such yearly permits or renewal thereof, the person, firm or corporation to whom the same is granted shall pay to the Secretary of Town Council,[2] for the use of the Borough, the sum of $0.50 for each pig, hog or swine so kept or to be kept.

It shall be unlawful for any person or persons, firm or corporation to keep more than two pigs, hogs or swine upon any one property in the Borough of Langhorne, and in case that more than this number of such pigs, hogs or swine are now kept upon any one property, the owner or owners thereof shall within 30 days from the adoption of this article remove or dispose of all such pigs, hogs or swine in excess of the minimum number of two authorized to be kept under this article, to the end that but two pigs, hogs or swine shall be kept upon any one property.
No person or persons, firm or corporation shall keep any pigs, hogs or swine, or keep or maintain any pigsties, pens or piggeries in the Borough of Langhorne, within the distance of 50 feet from any dwelling house or other building (barn, stable and garages only excepted) or within 50 feet from any street in said Borough.
All pigsties or pens now erected constructed and maintained or hereafter to be erected, constructed and maintained within said Borough shall be built at least 18 inches from the ground and the owner or owners thereof shall thoroughly wash all such sties, pens or piggeries, or cause the same to be done, and keep the same in a clean condition at all times, and the condition of such pig pens or sties shall be subject at all times to the inspection of the Health Committee of the Town Council[1] of said Borough, or of the Board of Health of said Borough or their authorized representative.

No person or persons, firm or corporation shall gather or bring into the said Borough at any time any slop, swill or garbage or refuse food products of any kind, for the purpose of feeding pigs or other animals; provided, however, that this provision shall not extend or apply to the collection of garbage within said Borough, and hauling the same there from, under such rules and regulations as the Borough authorities may impose.
Any person or persons, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this article shall upon the conviction thereof before the Mayor of the said Borough, or any Magisterial District Judge, forfeit and pay to the Treasurer of the said Borough of Langhorne, for the use thereof, a fine or penalty of $10 for each and every offense together with the costs, and upon judgment rendered against any such person or persons, by summary conviction, or by proceedings by summons, or default of the payment of the fine, or penalty so imposed, by said judgment and the costs, the person or persons so offending shall be sentenced and committed to the Borough lockup for a period not exceeding five days, or to the County Jail for a period not exceeding 30 days.
