(a) 
The Board shall consist of seven members appointed by the City Council for staggered terms.
(b) 
The initial term of one member shall begin immediately upon their appointment by the Council and shall end at 12:01 a.m. on October 1 of the succeeding calendar year following their appointment.
(c) 
The initial term of one member shall begin immediately upon their appointment by the City Council and shall end at 12:01 a.m. on October 1 of the second succeeding calendar year following their appointment.
(d) 
The initial term of one member shall begin immediately upon their appointment by the City Council and shall end at 12:01 a.m. on October 1 of the third succeeding calendar year following their appointment.
(e) 
The initial term of four members shall begin immediately upon their appointment by the City Council and shall end at 12:01 a.m. on October 1 of the fourth succeeding calendar year following their appointment.
(f) 
Thereafter, the term of office of each member shall be four years.

The members of the Airport Advisory Board shall receive no compensation from the City for their services.

As soon as practical upon the appointment of the members to the Airport Advisory Board, they shall meet and elect officers which shall consist of a Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary. The Board shall have such regular and special meetings as it may from time to time provide for by resolution entered upon its minutes.

Vacancies on the Board shall be filled by the Council, for the unexpired term.

It shall be the duty of the Airport Advisory Board to make recommendations to the Mayor and Council regarding the operation and maintenance of the City airport facilities and to promote the use and expansion thereof and to perform such administrative and supervisory functions in regard thereto as the City Council may from time to time delegate to it.

The Planning Commission of the City is hereby designated as the Airport Zoning Commission for the City, to recommend the boundaries of the various zones to be established and the regulations to be adopted therefor for zoning the airport hazard area surrounding the municipal airport of the City as provided in Chapter 6 of Title 4 of the Alabama Code.
