There is hereby created a committee to be known as the economic development advisory committee. The committee shall be advisory only and shall advise the city council and city staff on economic development strategies that promote and foster private investment and job creation to ensure a suitable business environment for the city. The committee shall meet as needed.

(a) 
The economic development advisory committee shall consist of seven regular members, made up of the mayor (or their designee) plus six members appointed by the city council.
(b) 
The six council-appointed members shall serve staggered two-year terms whereby three shall be appointed in odd-numbered years and the remaining three shall be appointed in even-numbered years. Accordingly, the initial terms for three members shall be for two years, and the initial terms for the other three members shall be for one year. The initial members shall draw straws to determine which three shall serve an initial term of two years.
(c) 
The offices of chair and vice chair shall be elected annually from among the committee's membership at its first meeting in the new calendar year. The city secretary or their designee shall serve as the secretary.
