A. 
There is hereby established a Department of Open Space and Recreation, the head of which shall be the Superintendent of Open Space and Recreation. The positions of Supervisor - Division of Sports Turf & Open Space and Manager-Division of Recreation Programs is authorized, and the persons holding such position shall report to the Superintendent of Open Space and Recreation. The Department of Open Space and Recreation shall have the following role and functions:
(1) 
It shall be responsible for all matters relating to Parks, Open Space, Recreation, both passive and active and the maintenance of athletic fields, recreational areas, open space and the infrastructure therein.
(2) 
It shall provide recreational services while also providing the necessary maintenance to ensure safe and pleasing areas for both passive and active recreation, while also maintaining the balance between preservation of open space and recreation.
(3) 
It shall operate and maintain the necessary equipment and infrastructure to efficiently provide the residents and visitors of Evesham Twp. the most optimal recreational experience.
(4) 
It shall care for all Township parks and public grounds, including the trees, lawns and landscaping of recreational areas and facilities operated by the Township.
B. 
Within the Department of Open Space and Recreation there shall be the following divisions: the Division of Open Space and the Division of Recreation Programs.
C. 
Subject to the direction and supervision of the Township Manager, the Superintendent of Open Space and Recreation shall be responsible for the proper and efficient conduct of all the Open Space and Recreation functions of the municipal government. He or she shall supervise and direct the work of the Department of Open Space and Recreation.

Within the Department of Open Space and Recreation, there shall be a Division of Open Space, the head of which shall be known and designated as Division Supervisor - Sports Turf & Open Space. Under the direction and supervision of the Division Supervisor - Sports Turf & Open Space, the Division shall:
A. 
Maintain active recreational surface areas and prepare them for recreational activities.
B. 
Evaluate, plan for and implement preventative maintenance and park and recreation facility improvements.
C. 
Care for all Township parks and public grounds, including trees, lawns, and landscaping appurtenant to public buildings and the recreational areas and facilities operated by the Township.

Within the Department of Open Space and Recreation, there shall be a Division of Recreation Programs, the head of which shall be known and designated as Manager - Division of Recreation Programs. Under the direction and supervision of the Manager - Division of Recreation Programs, the Division shall:
A. 
Provide, maintain and manage recreational programs for the public.
B. 
Administer and grant permits for use of all Township athletic services.
C. 
Provide recreational events to promote a healthy and active community.
D. 
Be responsible for other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Open Space, Parks and Recreation.
