Law enforcement in the Town shall be accomplished by a police force appointed by and at the pleasure of the Mayor. The police force shall consist of a Police Chief, an Assistant Police Chief and officers. The number of officers shall be determined by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Town Council.

Duties of law enforcement officers of the Town shall be performed as prescribed by the Mayor and shall be to preserve public peace, safety, health and welfare, pursuant to applicable law and regulation.

Qualifications required of candidates for appointment by the Mayor to the office of Police Chief, Assistant Police Chief, or officer include but are not limited to good moral character, sound health and temperament and such additional requirements as may from time to time be duly and regularly prescribed by the Town Council.
