The office of city treasurer is made an appointive position.

The city treasurer shall be appointed by the mayor, and such appointment shall be confirmed by a majority of the city council.

The appointment shall be in writing, signed by the mayor, and filed with the city clerk.

The person so appointed may be removed by the mayor.

The duties of the city treasurer shall include the investment of city funds and the city treasurer shall have the authority to invest funds on behalf of the city, without further consent of the audit committee.
