The purpose of this chapter is to adopt an expedited, streamlined, electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) permitting process that complies with the provisions set forth in AB 1236 (2017) and AB 970 (2021). This chapter is designed to remove hurdles in the approval process of this vital infrastructure to support the State's quickly growing number of electric vehicles. This chapter allows the City to achieve these goals while protecting the public health and safety.

The provisions of AB 1236 and 970 ensure ministerial approval of all electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS); no design review requirements shall be imposed on any covered project.
