The town hereby accepts the provisions of C.G.S. § 7-136 and establishes hereby an economic development commission.

The purposes of the economic development commission shall be the promotion and development of the business and industrial resources of the town and for that purpose the economic development commission shall have all the rights, powers, duties and obligations conferred and imposed by C.G.S. § 7-136.

The economic development commission shall consist of nine members appointed by the town manager. Members of the economic development commission shall serve for five years each from the date of appointment, except that the terms shall be so fixed that the terms of not more than two members expire annually. In addition, the town manager may also appoint up to three ex officio, nonvoting members representing various other interests, but not limited to the community at large, the city, utilities, regional, state, and/or federal agencies for a one-year term.
