This chapter shall be known as the "plumbing code," may be cited as such and will be referred to in this chapter as "this code."

The Uniform Plumbing Code, 2024 Edition, as amended and set forth in the California Building Standards Code, Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations, published by the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, is hereby adopted, except as hereinafter amended in this chapter.

The Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) adopted herein by reference is hereby amended by the following additional deletions and amendments thereto as set forth in this chapter. Reference numbers herein are taken from the 2025 California Plumbing Code, (CPC) Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations.

Section 108, Disconnection, is added to read:
The building official is authorized to order discontinuance of utility service to any buildings or structure which has been declared by the building official to be unsafe to occupy. No person, firm or corporation shall reconnect or supply service to such building without first having received express authorization from the building official.

Section 609.3 is amended to read:
Water distribution systems shall not be installed under a concrete floor slab within a building.
