That certain map consisting of fifty-six separate sheets numbered from 1 to 18, both inclusive, and from 20 to 57, both inclusive, entitled: "Official House Numbering Map of the city of South Gate, California" and which map is contained in a binder entitled: "Official House Numbering Map of the city of South Gate, California," be and the same is hereby ordered placed on file in the office of the Building Inspector of the city of South Gate, California.

That certain sheet designated as "Sheet No. 20-A," prepared by the city engineer for insertion as a new sheet in the "Official House Numbering Map of the city of South Gate, California" hereinabove referred to in Section 5.20.010 of this chapter, shall be and the same is hereby approved by the City Council and is hereby ordered inserted in and made a part of said "Official House Numbering Map of the city of South Gate, California" as page "20-A" thereof; and the respective red ink numbers shown and/or indicated upon said Sheet No. 20-A for the respective properties to which the same respectively appertain or relate as shown upon said Sheet No. 20-A, shall be the official numbers of and for, and to be assigned to, houses, buildings or structures erected or to be erected upon said respective properties, and shall be the official numbers of such respective houses, buildings and structures. The said numbers shown upon said Sheet No. 20-A shall supersede and supplant any other numbers previously shown in said "Official House Numbering Map of the city of South Gate, California" for the same respective properties.

The "Official House Numbering Map of the City of South Gate, California" hereinabove in Section 5.20.010 of this chapter referred to, is hereby approved and adopted as the official house numbering map of the City of South Gate and the system of house numbering as shown on and contained in said map is hereby approved and adopted as the official house numbering system of the city.

There is hereby created the office or position of Official Numberer of Buildings in and for the City of South Gate, California. The Building Inspector of said city shall at all times, by virtue of his office as such Building Inspector, be the official numberer of buildings above mentioned and as such Official Numberer of Buildings shall be charged with the duty of assigning and shall assign, to the various houses, buildings and structures within the city, official numbers in accordance with the system of numbering as shown upon said official house numbering map hereinabove adopted. Such numbers shall be assigned upon request of any person interested and no charge shall be made for such assignment.

It shall be unlawful for any person, other than the Official Numberer of Buildings, or his authorized representative, to assign to, or designate for, any house, building or structure within the city any official number or numbers which purports to be an official number.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to place, fix, display or exhibit in or upon any house, building or structure, or portion thereof, within the city, as the official number of such house, building or structure, or as a number which purports to be the official number thereof, any number other than the official number of such house, building or structure assigned thereto by such Official Numberer of Buildings.

All houses, buildings and structures within said city, other than garages and small out-buildings shall be numbered in accordance with the house numbering system hereinabove adopted, with the number or numbers assigned thereto by the Official Numberer of said city as hereinabove contemplated, and it shall be unlawful for the owner, occupant or person in charge or control of any such house, building or structure required to have a number under the provisions of this chapter, to fail or refuse to obtain and properly display upon any such house, building or structure the official number or numbers thereof as hereinabove provided for.
