For the purpose of prescribing regulations governing public health matters in the city of South Gate, that certain county of Los Angeles Public Health Code, being Los Angeles County Ordinance No. 7583, adopted by the County Board of Supervisors on August 25, 1959, effective date September 25, 1959, including amendments and changes all effective July 25, 1995, and save and except such portions thereof as are hereinafter deleted, modified or amended; and the same is hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein, and from the date on which this ordinance shall take effect the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the limits of the city of South Gate.

The city clerk shall cause to be filed in her office three copies of said Public Health Code and she shall certify that each copy of said document so filed is a true copy of the document of which it purports to be a copy.

Said "Public Health Code" adopted by this chapter is hereby amended as follows:
A. 
Section 101 of PART I. GENERAL PROVISIONS is amended to read: "Sec. 101. "HEALTH OFFICER" means the duly authorized health officer for the city of South Gate."

Any person, firm, association or corporation violating any of the provisions of said "County of Los Angeles Public Health Code" being Los Angeles County Ordinance No. 7583, and its amendments, hereinabove adopted shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punishable by a fine of not more than three hundred dollars or by imprisonment in the city jail of the city of South Gate, California, or in the county jail of the county of Los Angeles, California, as the committing magistrate may direct, for not more than three months or by both such fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the court. Each such person, firm, association or corporation shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day or portion thereof during which any violation of any of the provisions of said "County of Los Angeles Public Health Code" being Los Angeles County Ordinance No. 7583, and its amendments hereinabove mentioned or referred to is committed, continued or permitted.

The city council of the city of South Gate, hereby declares that should any section, paragraph, sentence or word of this code be declared for any reason to be invalid, it is the intent of the city council that it would have passed all other portions of this code independently of the invalid portion thereof and regardless of the possibility that such portion might be declared invalid.
