§ 8.18.010 Higher speeds authorized, when.

Whenever the city council finds, on the basis of an engineering and traffic survey, that a speed of thirty, thirty-five, forty, forty-five, fifty or fifty-five miles per hour facilitates the orderly movement of vehicular traffic and would be safe upon any highway or street otherwise subject to a prima facie limit of twenty-five miles per hour under the Vehicle Code, the director shall post appropriate signs upon such highway or street specifying such speed limit.

§ 8.18.020 Lower speeds authorized, when.

Whenever the city council finds, on the basis of an engineering and traffic survey, that a speed limit of fifty-five miles per hour exceeds that which is reasonable or safe upon any portion of the highway where a speed limit of fifty-five miles per hour is applicable under the Vehicle Code, and further determines that a speed of fifty, forty-five, forty, thirty-five, thirty or twenty-five miles per hour is reasonable, safe and more appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of traffic, the director shall post the appropriate signs upon such highway specifying such speed limit of fifty, forty-five, forty, thirty-five, or thirty or twenty-five miles per hour, as the case may be.

§ 8.18.030 Speed limits designated on certain streets.

Based upon engineering and traffic surveys, the city has determined that the speeds permitted upon the following streets are necessary for the safe operation of vehicles thereon, and it is declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as specified in this section for those streets or parts of streets herein designated when signs have been erected giving notice thereof:
