The terms of office of the Mayor and Trustees shall hereafter beginning with the June 2026 election be for four years, subject to the transition term provided in this chapter.

The elections of the Village of Poquott, subject to the transition period provided in this chapter, shall be held biennially, on even numbered years.

In order to arrange for the terms of the Mayor and Trustees to be for four years with biennial elections to be held on even numbered years only, the term of the two trustees elected in the June 2025 election of the Village of Poquott shall be for terms of three years, from July 2025 to June 2028, with the elections to be held for the mayor and trustees at the June 2026 election and each election thereafter to be for four years, to be held biennially, on even years only.

The term of the Village Justice at the election for Village Justice to be held at the June 2027 Village election shall be for a term of three years, from July 2027 to June 2030. The term of the Village Justice to be elected at the June 2030 election and the elections held thereafter shall be for a term for four years.
In the event that any provision of this chapter or the local law enacting this chapter should be deemed or determined to be invalid or unenforceable for any reason, then the remaining sections of this chapter or that local law shall continue in full force and effect.
