It is unlawful for any person, without the written permission of the proper authority, to carry or wear within the corporate limits of the city any dirk, pistol, revolver, gun, sword in cane, slingshot, brass knuckles, or other deadly weapon, concealed.

It is unlawful for any person, without a permit from the chief of police, to discharge or fire within the city limits any cannon, dynamite or firearms, except that rifles may be discharged in shooting galleries or rifle ranges where a valid use permit has been obtained for the operation of said gallery or range pursuant to the provisions of PGMC Title 23 and the construction of the gallery or range has been approved by the community development director, the fire department, and the chief of police, and the discharge of firearms is done under regulations promulgated by the chief of police.

It is unlawful for any person to use any air guns, sling, elastic or spring guns, slingshots, bows, crossbows, darts or any implement or mechanical appliance by which any bullet, shot, stone, dart or other projectile shall be propelled, sprung or thrown by any person, from one place to another, except for the use of spear guns while fishing in the ocean, pursuant to fish and game laws and regulations of the state of California. The cocking, loading, or charging of any weapon mentioned in this section; or the carrying of any cocked, loaded, or charged weapon mentioned herein in any public place other than the waters of the ocean is unlawful.
