There is created a fund of the city known as the city street fund into which moneys shall be placed for the purpose of constructing and maintaining arterial highways and city streets, or for the payment of any municipal indebtedness which may be incurred in the construction, improvement, chip sealing, seal-coating, repair and maintenance of arterial highways and city streets.

The city clerk-treasurer is directed to transfer funds from the arterial street fund into the city street fund created under the ordinance codified in this chapter, effective January 1, 1999.
