It shall be the duty of the town marshal to take up and impound all stock running at large in the district above described as provided against in TMC § 6.05.010, and to hold the same for three days, unless released as provided in this chapter, after which time all stock impounded shall be advertised for sale for at least 10 days, either in a newspaper of general circulation in the town of Twisp or by posting notices in three of the most public places within said town; and in case the same is advertised in a newspaper, it shall be inserted twice in said paper. Such notice shall describe the animal so impounded, giving brands, earmarks, and other marks of identification near as may be and the date said animal was impounded and the time of sale.

The owner of any animal impounded under the provisions of this chapter may have the same released by paying to the town marshal $1.00 for taking said animal, and by paying the costs of advertising for the sale of said animal together with $0.50 for each and every day said animal shall remain in the pound.

All sales under the provisions of this chapter shall be held at the public pound, and all sales shall be for cash to the highest bidder.

The marshal shall receive $1.00 for each animal impounded under the provisions of this chapter, and all other monies received for the sale of any animal, after paying the expenses of advertising, care and sale, shall be turned over to the town clerk, who shall keep the same for 30 days or turn the same over to the owner of the animal sold under this chapter, and in case the owner cannot be found within the said 30 days, the money shall be turned into the general fund of the town.
