Any individual, person, firm, corporation, general contractor or subcontractor, before commencing work on the erection, construction or installation of any fire sprinkler systems, process piping, gasoline piping, refrigeration and air conditioning units, duct work, steam and hot water heating installation, oil and coal-fired steam boilers, all types of pressure vessels, mill and process machinery, air compressor installations and air piping, and all other installations not specifically covered by the existing plumbing, building and gas codes of the city, shall obtain a permit therefor from the office of the building inspector of the city, portable appliance type air conditioners excepted.
