The planning and building director position is hereby established and shall be appointed by the city manager.

The city planning and building director performs a variety of administrative and technical work in the current and long-range planning programs of the city related to the development and implementation of land use and related municipal plans and policies; oversees code interpretation and plan review to ensure that building and zoning codes and standards are met; and performs all duties and exercises all powers pertaining to such office as provided by law and ordinances of the city.
