As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
MEDICAL WASTE
Any waste generated during the treatment of a patient other than from an individual household source. Sources of medical waste shall include, but not be limited to, offices of physicians, dentists, and veterinarians, medical laboratories, animal hospitals, nursing homes, and hospitals. Types of medical waste shall include, but not be limited to, all instruments, supplies, containers, gloves, tubing, bandages, surgical gowns, and surgical masks. Any such waste which would be classified as hazardous, toxic, pathological, or infectious waste shall be separately disposed of pursuant to the regulations if the New Jersey State Department of Health and the New Jersey State Department of Environmental Protection.
A. 
Any person receiving garbage collection services from the Township of Willingboro shall separate medical waste from all other waste generated on premises.
B. 
Disposal of medical waste where Township garbage collection is provided. No person receiving garbage collection services from the Township of Willingboro shall dispose of medical waste in any container which is to be collected by the Township of Willingboro, unless it is in a container specifically designated by the Township Department of Health for the disposal of medical waste. Such medical waste shall be disposed of by utilizing specifically identified bags.
C. 
Disposal of medical waste where Township garbage collection is not provided. Any medical waste generated by the offices of physicians, dentists, and veterinarians located within the Township of Willingboro that are not receiving Township garbage collection services shall be disposed of in a container designated for that purpose by the Township Department of Health by utilizing specifically identified bags. Such medical waste shall be separated from other waste generated on the premises.
The Township Manager, or his duly authorized designee, is hereby designated and authorized as the enforcement officer of this article.
Any person, firm, entity or corporation who shall violate or fail to comply with any provision of this article shall receive a fine not to exceed $2,000 per incident.
