During the development of the City of Crisfield's original Critical Area Program, which was approved by the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area Commission on December 26, 1988, the City formally sought an exclusion from program requirements of the Critical Area Law (as amended) under the terms of § 8-1807(b) of the Natural Resources Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The Crisfield Critical Area Exclusion Area consists of approximately 95.73 acres and includes the area of the Crisfield formerly planned Industrial Maritime Park. A metes and bounds description of the Critical Area Program Exclusion Area was approved by local ordinance on December 6, 1988. The Critical Area Program Exclusion Area is depicted on the City's approved official Critical Area Map. Both the map and the metes and bounds description are on file in the City of Crisfield Municipal Office.
