It shall be the duty of the building inspector to see that this code is enforced through the proper legal channels, including in addition to the imposition of criminal justice penalties hereinafter provided for, any appropriate action or proceeding to require compliance with, or to enjoin violation of, the provisions of this code.

All applications for building permits shall be accompanied by a plan in duplicate drawn to scale showing the actual dimensions of the lot to be built upon, the size, use, and location of existing buildings and buildings to be erected, and such other information as may be necessary to provide for the enforcement of this code. A careful record of such applications and plans shall be kept in the office of the building inspector.

It shall be unlawful in any way to violate this code or for any person to use or occupy any portion of any premises, any part of which has been constructed, equipped, or is used in violation of the provisions of this code, until such unlawful use has ceased and such unlawful construction or equipment has been removed. Any premises which have been constructed, equipped, or used in violation of this code shall be posted by the building inspector with a sign directing the vacation of the entire premises within 10 days from the date noted thereon. Any person removing or defacing such sign without the permission of the proper authority shall be subject to the penalties hereinafter provided.

Any person, firm, or corporation who violates, disobeys, omits, neglects, or refuses to comply with or who resists the enforcement of any of the provisions of this code shall, upon conviction, be fined $25.00 for a first offense, $75.00 for a second offense, $150.00 for a third offense, $300.00 for a fourth offense and in any sum thereafter for all further offenses not exceeding $500.00 each day that a violation is permitted to exist shall constitute a separate offense.
