The use of engine brakes by trucks within the town limits is prohibited, and it is unlawful for trucks to use such devices. As used in this section, "trucks" means motor vehicles with four or more wheels, the principal use of which is for the transportation or storage of goods on public highways on a commercial basis; provided, however, that "trucks" shall not include pickup trucks or standard-size vans. As used in this section, "engine brakes" means jake brakes or other switches or devices operated by the operator of a truck to use the braking system and the compression of the truck’s engine to slow the truck.
