There is hereby created the position of Principal Account Clerk for the Township of Lacey.
The duties of the Principal Account Clerk, under direction, shall include but not be limited to the performance of a wide variety of clerical duties of considerable difficulty and complexity which involve computing, classifying, verifying and recording numerical data, as well as reconciling accounts, records and documents in order to keep sets of financial records complete. In addition, the Principal Account Clerk may supervise a small group of employees in the maintenance of accounting records. The Principal Account Clerk shall also perform such other related work as required.
To be appointed to the position of Principal Account Clerk, an individual must meet the following requirements:
A. 
Possess two years of experience in the preparation, maintenance and/or review and verification of financial records.
B. 
Possess the ability to analyze clerical accounting problems, to apply rules, regulations and methods to a variety of situations and to develop effective work methods.
C. 
Possess the ability to gather, compile and analyze basic accounting data, to prepare reports and summaries and to locate discrepancies in financial reports which are of moderate complexity and to make corrections.
D. 
Possess the ability in supervisory assignments to instruct and guide lower level employees and evaluate their effectiveness.
E. 
Possess the ability to use judgment in recognizing possible alternative actions to problems when they are not prescribed or readily apparent and, in referring to others, problems which require other than clerical decisions.
F. 
Possess the ability to compose correspondence of an explanatory or interpretive nature, as well as the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and find averages and percentages and to perform work requiring constant and close attention to clerical and numerical detail.
G. 
Possess the ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position. Communication may include such forms as American sign language or braille.
H. 
Possess good health and freedom from disabling physical and mental defects which would impair the proper performance of the required duties or which might endanger the health and safety of oneself or others. Persons with mental or physical disabilities are eligible as long as they can perform the essential functions of the job after reasonable accommodation is made to their known limitations. If the accommodation cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue hardship, such persons may not be eligible.
The salary for the Principal Account Clerk shall be determined from time to time by the Township Committee and shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of the Salary Ordinance of the Township of Lacey.[1]
