There is hereby created the position of Principal Assistant Assessor for the Township of Lacey.
The duties of the Principal Assistant Assessor, under direction, shall include, but not be limited to, supervising an assessment unit performing highly responsible and varied work in establishing a system of valuations for a designated area. The Principal Assistant Assessor shall also perform such other related work as required.
To be appointed to the position of Principal Assistant Assessor, an individual must meet the following requirements:
A. 
Three years of experience in assessing or appraising real property, one year of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
B. 
Possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
C. 
Posses the knowledge of:
(1) 
Property appraisal methods.
(2) 
Form and content of building plans.
(3) 
Methods used to collect and analyze data.
(4) 
Ability to analyze and interpret applicable laws and regulations and apply them to specific cases.
(5) 
Ability to supervise appraisals of real property.
(6) 
Ability to provide testimony before county and state boards.
(7) 
Ability to provide assignments and instructions to subordinates.
(8) 
Ability to prepare reports and correspondence.
(9) 
Ability to supervise the establishment and maintenance of records and files.
(10) 
Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
D. 
Possess the ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
E. 
Persons with mental or physical disabilities are eligible as long as they can perform the essential functions of the job after reasonable accommodation is made to their known limitations. If the accommodation cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue hardship, such persons may not be eligible.
The salary for the Principal Assistant Assessor shall be determined from time to time by the governing body and shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of the Salary Ordinance of the Township of Lacey.[1]
