This chapter is enacted pursuant to the provisions of Title D of the
Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Law as enacted by Chapter 660
of the Laws of 1972.
The purpose of this chapter is to protect the public health, welfare
and safety of the residents of Hudson by regulating the operation of snowmobiles
within the City.
Snowmobiles shall not be operated on the public streets and other places
in the City of Hudson unless an emergency is declared by the Mayor to authorize
the use of same.
In the case of such an emergency, only authorized persons shall operate
snowmobiles and they shall be responsible to official jurisdiction of the
City authorities.
A person operating a snowmobile within the City of Hudson must observe
strictly all vehicular traffic signs and signals and all other rules and regulations
applicable to vehicular traffic, and shall obey the orders or directions of
any state or local police officer or other law enforcement official authorized
to direct or regulate traffic.
Negligence in use or operation of a snowmobile shall be attributed to
the owner. Every owner of a snowmobile used or operated in the City of Hudson
shall be liable and responsible for death of or injury to persons or damage
to property resulting from negligence in the use or operation of such snowmobile
by any person using or operating same with the permission, express or implied,
of such owner; provided, however, that such operator's negligence shall not
be attributed to the owner as to any claim or cause of action accruing to
the operation of such snowmobile, or his legal representatives, for such injuries
or death.

Any person committing an offense against any provision of this chapter
shall be guilty of a violation punishable by a fine not to exceed $100. The
continuation of an offense against the provisions of this chapter shall constitute,
for each day the offense is continued, a separate and distinct offense hereunder.
