A. 
Every water service shall be supplied through a meter.
B. 
All water meters that shall be used on the water system of a water district must be procured from the water district and shall be the property of the district. All meters shall be procured from the water district at a fee equal to the cost of the meter.
C. 
Separate and independent meters shall be installed for each and every parcel and for each and every living unit for which water is to be provided. When multiple living units exist on a single parcel, each shall be separately metered.
A. 
Meters (new or replacement) shall be set by or under the supervision of the Town at the expense of the property owner in such location, position and manner as to be readily accessible for reading and repair and kept free of obstructions, A suitable valve or stopcock shall be placed in the pipe on each side of the meter. No meter shall be removed unless done so by or under the supervision of the Town. Meters shall be accessible at all reasonable times to Town representatives for the purpose of reading, examining, repairing or replacement of meters.
B. 
The Town shall have the right, upon reasonable prior notice, to enter any property receiving water service, to replace any existing meter. Failure or refusal of the property owner to allow access for such purpose shall constitute grounds for termination of water service to the property.
A. 
The property owner must protect the meter from freezing and damage. The water district will repair all meters as necessary to maintain against normal wear of the meters in the water district.
B. 
Any damage to meters caused by other than normal wear will be repaired by the water district at the expense of the property owner.
The Town will test meters as necessary to maintain against normal wear. Where a meter is suspected to be inaccurate by the property owner, it will be tested at the property owner's request. If said meter is found to be accurate, the property owner shall bear the expense of the test.
No person shall in any way interfere or tamper with the water meter or the valves and fittings connected therewith. When meters are sealed, the seal may be broken only by the authorized agent of the Town. Should the seal be broken in any other manner, the property owner will be held responsible, and the Town reserves the right to order the meter removed for test at the expense of the property owner.
Whenever the distance from the water main to the point of entry of the water service line into the building exceeds 100 feet, a tile set meter installation shall be required. Such connection shall be in accordance with Town of Van Buren Standard Specifications and Details for Water Facilities.
